S13-04 The vascular wall as a source of stem cells in adult organs

چکیده
naling events that are continuously modified by environmental cues. However, the details of how these processes can change cell fate choices are still unknown. Previously, we demonstrated that sustained expression of HOXA3 both accelerated wound healing and promoted neovascularisation in diabetic mice. We have subsequently shown that in response to injury HOXA3 induces a significant increase in both mobilization and recruitment of endothelial progenitor cells. In addition, HOXA3-treated mice have significantly fewer inflammatory cells recruited to the wound compared to control mice. Microarray analyses of HOXA3-treated wounds revealed that indeed HOXA3 locally increased expression of genes that selectively promote stem/progenitor cell mobilization and recruitment while also suppressing expression of numerous members of the pro-inflammatory NF-jB pathway, attenuating the excessive inflammatory response characteristic of diabetic wounds. Here we examine the underlying mechanisms of HOXA3 regulation of adult stem/progenitor cell migration and differentiation and describe a model for Hox transcription factor function in response to injury. Enhancing our understanding of how transcription factors can pre/re-programme stem/progenitor cells invivo will provide novel insights into molecular and cellular therapeutic medicines of the future.

Trying to use embryonic stem cells about 20 years ago, working with animals, especially rats began. During these years , many experiments in mouse embryonic stem cells to transform into a variety of cells and transplanting them were led to remarkable success . In the next issue of human stem cells were considered successful until finally in 1998 the first report was published in the proliferat...
متن کاملFacts about Stem Cells and Importance of Them
Stem cells are undifferentiated biological cells that can differentiate into specialized cells and can divide (through mitosis) to produce more stem cells. They are found in multicellular organisms. In mammals, there are two broad types of stem cells: embryonic stem cells, which are isolated from the inner cell mass of blastocysts, and adult stem cells, which are found in various tissues. In ad...

Epilepsy is neurological disorders that afflict many people around the world with a higher prevalence rate in children and in low income countries. Temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE) is result from hippocampal sclerosis is a neurological disorder with difficult treatment. Stem cells can transform into any type of cells such as glial cells, consequently stem cells can use for medical treatment. Stem c...

متن کاملVascular wall resident progenitor cells: a source for postnatal vasculogenesis.
Here, we report the existence of endothelial precursor (EPC) and stem cells in a distinct zone of the vascular wall that are capable to differentiate into mature endothelial cells, hematopoietic and local immune cells, such as macrophages. This zone has been identified to be localized between smooth muscle and adventitial layer of human adult vascular wall. It predominantly contains CD34-positi...
